University of Washington IMAP Server (uw-imapd)
Description
IMAP is a network protocol for accessing electronic mail messages that are stored on a server. This allows the e-mail client and message store to be located on different machines.
The UW IMAP Server is considered to be the reference implementation of the IMAP protocol. It includes support for:
- encrypted connections using SSL or TLS;
- a variety of authentication methods including Kerberos; and
- a variety of mailbox formats including mbox, but not including maildir (without third-party patches).
